Tools and Hardware Reviews of Black & Decker AS75 Quickpress Iron with Variable Steam and Nonstick SoleplateCustomer Review: Nice, capable lightweight iron Summary: 4 Stars
For my purposes (ironing shirts, jeans, and the like), this is an ideal iron. Small, lightweight, simple controls - and it does a good job on shirts, slacks, and jeans. The water level is visible, and it comes with a measure w/pouring spot which makes refilling very simple.
A separate "off" switch would be handy, but it is turned off by turning the temperature dial all the way down (which also means turning it back up to use it).
My first one finally quit after years of use, and I was very happy to find the model was still available.
Customer Review: Good for the price Summary: 4 Stars
It's not the best iron, but it works well. It has a rotary heat setting selector just below the handle. My gripe with it is that it clicks very loudly. When I iron in the morning i'm always afriad that i'll wake up my girlfriend and i'm sure that I have with this iron. Otherwise it was a good intermediate purchase. This should do good for a yearor so before I upgrade to a better one. The i'll use this as a spare.
Customer Review: Bought as a replacement, seems fine Summary: 4 Stars
I will update this review after a few uses but so far it seems like it is an economical replacement for my old iron. My old one had one of those button-push retractable cords. Over time, it got to the point where the cord would either not stay out or would be a hassle to put back in.
Customer Review: Can't beat the price Summary: 4 Stars
Awesome value!
But it kinda leaks a little sometimes :-/
Overall great buy for a student on a budget :-)
Customer Review: I've seen better Summary: 3 Stars
I really don't understand why this iron is special. The steam sputters, the iron bottom leaves a weird residue on dark clothing, and it's not even especially pretty. Also, I later saw this on sale for about a quarter of what I paid for it, and that did not make me happy.
The water compartment (filled below the maximum) spills everywhere (bad design!) and is also difficult to empty! The steam isn't half-bad, though: It delivers some pretty big puffs of steam when it wants to. However the iron overall doesn't have any standout features. It's a normal, everyday iron.
In short, the iron works, but really isn't worth any extra time or trouble. If you need one, and the price is right, go for it. But if you're really shopping around and looking for a good deal, search elsewhere.
