Customer Review: The Best Iron I've ever used!

We live in the Deep South where cotton is king. I iron ALOT. I have probably used up half a dozen irons over the 30 years of my marriage. My last one was a Black and Decker iron, and it was a good one. (I didn't realize it, but it was slowly fading away. What a difference a new one has made!) But THIS one! It is the best I have ever used.
First and foremost, it doesn't spit water all over the item being ironed. (It has a well cover. Close it and you're dry.) It is the one and only one I have had that I could say this about, so it has cut my ironing time way down.
I love the digital display, which I didn't think I would. You know what you are doing at all times. And every setting seems to be perfect for its type fabric. It cuts off automatically, and NO, mine is not hot when it goes off. Also, if you catch it shortly after it cuts off and begin to use it again, it comes on again automatically at the last setting you were using: a great feature for crafters and quilters.
I also like it that it beeps when it is up to the right temperature. (And that's very fast!)
It is a little heavy, but it glides so smoothly, even though it is not teflon coated, that I don't mind the heft.
I shopped like mad before I bought this iron, because, let's face it, ironing is a chore and the right tool makes a big difference. I read Consumer Reports and all the reviews on Amazon. I am one hundred percent happy with this iron! I wholeheartedly agree with the other reviewer: buy THIS iron. You won't be sorry! (By the way, I have found that a small television in the laundry room, and learning to iron sitting down makes it a whole lot more bearable!)

This is an excellent iron, particularly for the price. I was somewhat skeptical, at first, but based on the reviews that I read,thought I would give it a shot. I do not like spending a lot of money on irons. In my experience,spending more does not necessarily mean they will last longer or do a better job.
I do a lot of ironing (and have for 40 years) and appreciate a heavier iron, which this is, because I feel like I don't have to work as hard to get the job done. The Black and Decker Iron produces loads of steam for getting those tough wrinkles out and is very user friendly. At the same time, it works well on delicate items such as silks.
It will tell you just what it needs, when it needs it, and keeps you informed without being a nag. My previous iron assumed you didn't have a brain in your head and would shut off at the slightest provocation-this one gives you a bit more leeway (sometimes you have to walk away from the iron for a couple minutes).
It also has a long enough cord, which some do not, making it much easier to get to all those places on the ironing board. I also use mine when I am sewing or when I need to block knitted items. In these cases the variable heat control comes in handy-it really does give a difference in heat and steam level, while some irons only pretend to reduce the heat.
All in all, I am quite pleased with this iron. I should probably buy another to have in stock just in case. Murphy's Law says that when I need another iron this one will no longer be available!

Let me add my raves for this iron. It came Tuesday and I couldn't wait to whip out my husband's shirts to iron. It is a wee bit heavier than my former iron, BUT: it heats up unbelievably quickly, the glide is so smooth that it almost travels by itself, and the spray function and the steam are fabulous. Plus, it holds a lot more water than other irons I've used so there are fewer trips to the sink for refills.
By the way, thanks to Amazon for really fast delivery. So far everything I've ever ordered from them has arrived in tip top condition and with lightening speed.

HANDS DOWN THE BEST IRON I'VE EVER OWNED!!!
3/20/07 - I'VE DROPPED THIS IRON NOT ONCE, BUT TWICE (ALMOST KILLING MY MINI-DACHSHUND IN THE PROCESS) AND- YOU KNOW THE EXPRESSION IT TAKES A LICKING AND KEEPS ON TICKING? WELL SAME FOR THIS IRON. I WILL SAY THAT THE DIGITAL READ-OUT IS NOW WHACKY (WHO WOULDN'T BE FALLING OFF AN IRONING BOARD?) BUT THE STEAM FUNCTION AND THE SPRAY FUNCTION ARE WORKING PERFECTLY. THE READOUT IS VISIBLE BUT DIM AND I CAN'T TELL WHAT SETTING ITS ON. HOWEVER, HAVING FALLEN SO HEAVILY TWO TIMES, I DIDN'T EXPECT IT TO WORK AT ALL BUT IT IS. I'M AMAZED HOW GREAT THIS IS. ALSO, I GOT SOME GOOEY STUFF THAT HARDENED ON THE PLATE AND THOUGHT THE IRON WAS RUINED, BUT IT CAME OFF FAIRLY EASILY. I HAVE TO SAY THAT THIS IS ONE GREAT IRON. I'VE PUT IT THROUGH THE WRINGER IN THE LAST YEAR YET IT CONTINUES TO DO A GREAT JOB. KUDOS TO BLACK AND DECKER.

By the time I needed to replace my old iron and found this one, Amazon had stopped selling it. So I purchased mine at bedbathandbeyond. I used their 20% off coupon. Thus the price came up comparable to online retailers.
As stated by many, this is a great iron.
Things I like:
- It heats up quickly
- It is easy to operate. It has an easy to read LCD screen
- It accurately maintains temperature so it does not leak
- The steam is powerful to iron things vertically
- It holds a large amount of water
- The opening to the water reservoir is large so is easy to fill it
- It lets one know when to clean steam vents, which is easy to do
- The power cord is long and rotates 360 degrees where it attaches to the iron so that it easily rotates in any direction.
- It is not too heavy when filled with water
- The sprayer and steam buttons are easy to engage
- The sole plate glides easily over the material being ironed
Things that can use improvement:
- The dial that regulates the steam, due to its location and the fact that it does not lock in the steam open position, one's fingers tend to inadvertently move it to the close position. So if one is not careful, one could have it open and midway ironing, it might end up closed without one even knowing it.
Overall, it is a pleasure to use this iron. I now look forward ironing.

I just received my B&D D2030 DAI today. I started to use it right away to see if it was true what I read on Consumer Reports website. All this time I have been ironing and I found the perfect Iron for home use that irons your clothes like just came from the cleaners. I am male and I always like to iron my clothes instead of dry cleaning them because I like to save money. For the longest time since I joined and recently got out of the Army after 7 years of service this iron was a dream come true for me. I could never find the right iron since I was about 17 years of age.
This iron is well worth the money and if you get it on Amazon you get it for $49.99 right now. Anyways just like everyone says on here Rowenta's products haven't been that great lately and I am not willing to spend $120 for the top line iron they have when the ones below are not that great.
I enjoyed ironing my clothes again. I have ironed a pair of jeans in about 7 mins. With tight creases and nicely starched. And the crazy thing is you probably don't need starch. But I like a nice gloss to my jeans.
B&D engineered this iron very well and put a lot of thought into this product that is for sure!! I hope you all take this serious. Because I am being serious this is great iron to have!
And men trust me man you won't hate to iron that much. It makes ironing your own clothes easy and fast!!!
