Tools and Hardware Reviews of Black & Decker D2030 Auto-Off Digital Advantage IronCustomer Review: Top Notch Iron Summary: 5 Stars
I had a fancy Rowenta iron that would slowly leak water. I purchased this iron as the replacement to the Rowenta. I iron nearly every morning to get my clothes ready for work and I have been extremely happy with this Black and Decker. My previous iron had purely standard iron features and it worked well. This Black and Decker has many additional features that I never knew existed but now I could not live without. For instance the temperature setting is digital. Now I know that I have it on the right temperature for the type of material I'm using. Also, after you have selected the fabric type (temp setting) the Black and Decker will emit one long beep to let you know that it is at the correct temperature. Other than that it is heavy and leaves a very good looking pressed dress shirt with only one pass. My previous iron required several passes and some down pressure to get the tough wrinkles out. All in all I am very pleased with this purchase.
Customer Review: Love this iron! Summary: 5 Stars
I'll say it again; I love this iron!! I have arthritis and was hesitant to buy it for fear that it would be too heavy. I am glad that I bought it. The iron glides so smoothly that I don't have to apply any pressure when ironing. The steam comes out evenly, without having to constantly push the steam button.
The iron has a vertical steam feature for quick steaming while clothes are hung. You have to hold the iron in one hand while using your other hand to hold the fabric taut. Since I have arthritis, I found the iron to be a little too heavy to hold in one hand.
The iron has an auto shut off feature which I like. If you're in the middle of ironing it heats up immediately once you turn it back on. The only drawback is that it turns on to the first setting; you have to then select the setting you were on, but it's not really that inconvenient as it heats up quickly.
I highly recommend the iron.
Customer Review: Definitely worth the investment. Summary: 5 Stars
This iron is somewhat pricey and I was a little hesitant, but it has easily proven itself.
The digital temperature setting is quick and easy to use. The iron heats up in no time, and cools almost as fast.
The steam dial is also easy to use. This unit produces lots of steal consistently if you ask it to, or only a little if that's what you want. The filling port has a rubber seal to prevent leakage. There is a small plastic filling vial that is included - a very nice bonus.
The base is heavy and solid. The iron glides very well and only a little pressure is needed due to the weight. While the rest of the body is plastic, the build quality is good - tight tolerances and good quality plastics to keep pace with the price and features. The cord is long enough and sturdy.
Cons? I never thought I'd be so fired up about an Iron, but I'll be really aggravated if/when I drop it and break it.
Customer Review: Solid performer-best I've had in years Summary: 5 Stars
I used to be a dedicated Rowenta owner, but I've had nothing but trouble with last 3 models I owned. They didn't maintain a consistent temperature and clogged within a month of use. I bought this B&D Model on the recommendations I found on Amazon.com, and I can say that so far this is a solid iron. Build quality is high, it heats quickly, and I love the audible alert when it's ready. Digital display is clear. Self-clean is a breeze and it's easy to fill the water reservoir. I know some prefer a retractable cord, but they often stop working, so I'm satisfied with the stationary cord as is. The weight of the iron is just right. I used to enjoy ironing (call me weird), but with the shoddy irons I've been using it's been a pain. I think I'm beginning to enjoy ironing again. BTW, I searched to find this iron in a store but was unsuccessful, and comparable models were more expensive, so buying here is the way to go!
Customer Review: would buy it again Summary: 5 Stars
My old Black and Decker Iron gave up the ghost so I went on line and selected one with the best reviews in my price range.
This one does a better job than the old one so I am very satisfied. Lots of steam and gets the wrinkles out better than the old B&D. Glides right along too.
The only complaint I have is: I leave my iron plugged in all the time- I know it has a auto shut-off and I never leave it "face down" It bothers me that the little RED light stays on even when the iron is shut off. I went back and felt the iron when I noticed it did this and the iron was cool but it seems that EVERYTHING should turn off. And when the house electricity bleeped during a thunderstorm - the iron came back on! Of course since it has an auto shut off it would have turned off eventually but that's just scary! So I just keep the iron unplugged now when not in use.
BUT - great iron when in use!
