Tools and Hardware Reviews of Black & Decker F1000 Steam Advantage Iron, WhiteCustomer Review: does the job Summary: 4 Stars
we got this iron after our last one broke and we are happy with it. it does the job and we've had no problems.
Customer Review: Ok, for the price Summary: 3 Stars
I read the reviews of several more expensive irons, but they all seemed to have one or more fatal flaws and/or be outrageously expensive. This isn't my main iron, just the one in my laundry room, so I wasn't looking to spend tons of money. There are three features that I really don't like, but can live with given the low, low price. (The three problems are: the VERY poor visibility of the water window (mentioned by other reviewers), the settings dial is very small and hard to turn (it would be a truly fatal flaw for anyone with hand/finger strength or dexterity issues - beware!), and (just mentioned by another reviewer) the fact that when the iron's auto-turnoff acts, the only way to get the iron back on is to unplug it and plug it back in. This is not described well in the directions, at all, and I actually replaced the wall outlet before figuring out it was the iron, not a faulty outlet.) This iron heats up fine, though, and steams well...and again, given the low price, it's OK.
Customer Review: Works ok, but the setting dial is small & difficult to turn Summary: 3 Stars
I picked this iron up at target. it works fine, but the setting dial is quite small and can be difficult to turn which is a bit of a pain. I'll be returning mine and going w/ a more ergonomic design
Customer Review: Unsatisfactory Summary: 2 Stars
I selected this iron because of the excellent reviews it had received at the time (about two years ago), but it looks like this iron has not stood the test of time. My first one lasted less than a year, and Black and Decker replaced it. I used the second one very little yet it still died in less than a year. I gave it two stars because it worked nicely during the time it worked. I'd nevertheless recommend crossing this model off your list.
Customer Review: one serious defect Summary: 2 Stars
It is impossible to know how much water is in the iron. When you fill it you can't see whether or not you have passed the "MAX" line.
