I purchased the Black & Decker NPP2018B 18 Volt Cordless Pole Chain Saw to trim hard wood trees on our property.
The pole saw comes with three sections and is easy to assemble. The sections are notched and grooved to prevent improper assembly. The Saw comes with a convent carry case to make it easy to keep all of the parts together and for ease of transport. The blade also comes with a sheath to prevent tearing up the carrying case. It also comes with a bottle for your lubricating oil (for lubing the saw after every branch cut).
The Pole Saw has made trimming large and small branches an easy process, unlike my manual saw which takes a long time to saw through a Walnut branch. This saw has easily cut thru 4 inch thick hard wood braches. The saw is light weight enough for ease of use, but weighs just enough to make nice straight cuts (no forcing the saw downward let its own weight do the cutting). If forcing the saw is necessary, the blade probably needs sharpened (a service available at almost any hardware store for a few dollars).
I have found the battery to hold enough charge to easily cut thru two four inch thick hard wood branches before it need to be recharged.
Before you trim or prune braches, I suggest you look at the Texas A&M website for proper pruning techniques. It has many helpful and useful techniques for trimming to prevent damage, to yourself, the tree or your saw.
I also suggest wearing safety glasses when using this saw to prevent saw dust from getting in your eyes.
I find this excellent product to be well worth the price.
