The Black & Decker Piranha pruning saw does cut through branches up to about 3" as claimed although branches 1-2" in diameter are the easiest to cut. The saw vibrates a good bit but is designed for secure handling and is otherwise simple and convenient to use. The jaw doesn't so much reduce vibration as negate its effects by holding the blade and branch together. Overall, performance is good and an experienced gardener should be able to make clean cuts with very little practice.
The blades are standard T-shank jigsaw blades which are inexpensively and readily available on Amazon as well as in hardware stores and departments. (This is fortunate because I gave up trying to find spares on the Black & Decker website.) Compatible blades are are available for materials other than wood such as metal and plastic.
For average home use, the battery should allow for plenty of cutting time (at least an hour in my experience) and as a bonus, the battery is swappable with many other Black & Decker cordless yard tools for extended use. I would encourage more manufacturers and industries to standardize components such as batteries, chargers, and blades for convenience and efficiency.
