I bought the Black & Decker 7.2 trimmer from Amazon a year ago. At WalMart immediately afterward I saw a similar Homelite 7.2 trimmer that included built-in wheels and an extension handle, for less money. I thought the wheels and handle would be great, so I bought it, and and so was able to compare the two trimmers for the past year.
The Homelite is so poorly designed that I soon stopped using it. It is clunky and bulky. The grass trimmer's blade has such a thick side tang that it cannot separate grass from a vertical planter board edge. And the shrub trimmer's blade apertures only allow very thin branches to get in. The handle is uncomfortable to hold the switch on for long, the power seems anemic from the starat, and the integral wheels are an impediment when hand-held.
So I praise the Black & Decker. The unit is sleek and light, the handle and switch are comfortable to hold for a long time, the grass trimmer and the hedge trimmer have blades that work well, and the battery is still strong after the ten minutes that my typical use requires. I see now that an extension handle with wheels is available, but I don't want it after using the one on the Homelite. I am ordering a couple of replacement blades, because even though the blades don't seem to be dull after a year, I plan to keep this Black & Decker a long time.
