A comfort-grip handle and three-finger trigger provide excellent control, while a 24-position clutch and variable speeds of 0 to 700 rpm allow the drill to power through wood, steel, or masonry without damaging bits or stripping screws along the way. --Carl Thress Ideal for drilling holes and driving screws in wood, metal, and plastic, this 1/4-inch hex cordless drill/driver from Black & Decker features an innovative five-position swiveling head that gets into even the hardest to reach areas. Tools and Hardware Reviews of Black & Decker XD1200K 12-Volt Ni-Cad 1/4-Inch Hex Cordless 5-Position Drill/Driver KitCustomer Review: Versatile and easy to use Summary: 5 Stars
I received this Black and Decker XD1200K drill/driver back in May '07. So far I like it. It's easy to use, the battery works great, and it recharges quickly. It comes with enough drills and screwdriver heads to do most jobs. I have been using it to replace the protruding nails on my sundeck with galvanized screws. I also used it to drill holes for a new latch in the metal frame of my sliding screen door. One of the things I like about it, is that you can use it in angled gun form but you can also use it as an inline straight drill/screwdriver which makes it easier for me to drill a straight hole. I think the 12V battery gives more than enough power for household repairs and projects. If you need an excellent, all-around, flexible, versatile cordless drill/screwdriver for a variety of applications, this is the one.
NOTE: It is now October 2007 and I still love this drill/screwdriver. I can adjust it easily for drilling or fastening screws (I actually read the manual). Plus I haven't needed to buy any additional drill bits or screwdriver heads for it. It even comes with ratchet sockets, which I used to fix my air conditioner fan in August. This is a wonderful, powerful all-around tool that I use a lot more than I thought I would.
NOTE: Well now it's May 2008 and yes I still love this drill/driver. I use it all the time - I own a house so there's always something.. It never wimps out. Also the battery seems to last a long time between rechargings. I'm glad I bought it.
NOTE: It's now October 2008 and this is still my favorite tool. As a gift I received a B&D drill index thingie full of drill, screwdriver, and ratchet/wrench bits that fit. So far I have only used the 2 screwdriver bits, one of the ratchet bits, and most of the drill bits that originally came with it, but I'm ready for anything now..
NOTE: It's now January 2010 and I still love this tool. I keep it on a shelf in the kitchen so I know where it is. Last week I assembled a desk with it. I still use it all the time.
