Tools and Hardware Reviews of Black and Decker S600 Cordless Powered ScrubberCustomer Review: scumbuster is backsaver! Summary: 4 Stars
I absolutely love this contraption. My mom has a lower model (300) without the cleaning solution reservoir, and using hers is what prompted me to buy the S600. It makes cleaning so much easier, and the attachments have helped me get into cracks and crevices that had been neglected in the past. My only complaints about the scumbuster are the the length of charge that the internal battery holds and the "storage" box. First, it'll die on you in the middle of cleaning, so you have to put it on the charger for a few hours to recharge it in order to finish. Second, the storage/carry case is the chintsy plastic box that it came in, and it does not stay closed very well. My mom's came with a nice carry container that you can carry around with you and store it in. I like the scumbuster so much that I bought two of them, one to give as a gift.
I think Black and Decker has some honing to do however, to make this product worthy of a 5 star rating. I have had two problems with the scumbuster since I bought it. The first scumbuster I received in the mail--only one of the two speeds worked. I sent it back for a replacement. The next one they sent me had a reservoir that leaked the cleaning product all over me and the floor, hence, there was none to use on the surface I was cleaning. This could also be a potential problem for products that stain clothes/carpet or are not supposed to come in contact with skin. Anyways, I called Black and Decker themselves, and they were very nice, and immediately sent a replacement reservoir, which I received in 2 or 3 days. No problems since. This is such a good product people, that I still recommend it even though I've seen a couple bumps in the road. You can use the scumbuster anywhere, inside, outside, in the car, anywhere. I've used in on the carpet, and even on the siding on my house (a whole other story). The scumbuster S600 can be used with or without cleaning products, and with lower models all you do is spray the product on the surface like you would in any other cleaning task. IT can be submerged in water too, to rinse off the cleaning pad. If you ask me, this is a way better product than the dustbuster could ever hope to be. Buy one (any model) today!
Customer Review: Labor-saver ! Summary: 4 Stars
I purchased this device so I could effectively tackle a renter's worst nightmare - moldy old bathroom grout, soap-scum stained tiles, and years of accumulated, greasy cooking grime on kitchen cabinetry and stove. (And shame, shame, shame on lazy landlords who have the effrontery to rent apartments in such deplorable condition!)
Imagine my delight and relief when 40 years of dark mold came off the grout within seconds !(I used the grout brush attachment that comes with this unit, setting #2, and a cleaning spray called "Awesome".)
This device makes tackling tough projects faster, more efficient, and less odious !
It packs more power than my elbow grease ever could ! In this respect, I give it high marks.
Other reviewers have pointed out flaws like ergonomics, and I agree.
It is clumsy to hold, especially when cleaning vertical surfaces, but not impossibly so. I'd prefer a more powerful motor and more rpms; a corded version that could run as long as necessary, rather than a rechargable cordless/submersable design. While the cleaning fluid reservoir seems like a thoughtful convenience, I'll pass - I don't want to add extra liquid weight, and I don't want the chore of cleaning out and drying the reservoir after use.
Overall, for the price, this is affordable, effective and a great time and labor saver. A must-have basic cleaning appliance for anyone setting up house, or looking to streamline cleaning chores !
Customer Review: Ahh, Speedy Clean Summary: 4 Stars
Finally, a cleaning product that isn't a waste of money. The Black and Decker Cordless Scrubber actually saves me energy and time. It does all the "elbow grease" work for you. The first time I used it on my stove with a degreaser, EEEWW! we were cooking on there! I didn't even know it was so dirty, but the firm blue brush and the scrubbing pads made short work and an exceptional clean.
Two down falls to the product: 1) I don't think you can replace the scrubbing pads once they become grimy. I haven't tried to run them through the dishwasher, but that might prolong their life. 2) The resevoir for cleaning fluid leaks (occasionally twisting off while I'm scrubbing) and pumps the fluid out too fast, or perhaps the problem is it holds such a small amount of cleaner, that it is really worthless to fill up. I find that this is easily remedied by simply carrying the orginal point and spray bottle of cleaner around with me and using it with one hand and the scrubber with the other.
The scrubber works wonders on soap scum, grease, and caked on food. I use it in the bathroom, in the kitchen, and anywhere else I can find to scrub! I run the attachment heads through the dishwasher periodically to clean off any residual cleaner chemicals, and to sterilize it.
Awesome product.
Customer Review: Great for cleaning, but alittle big and cumbersome! Summary: 4 Stars
I have a pretty large shower in the master bath, 2 sides tiles and 2 sides with frameless glass. Using the long brush I was able to get to corners whereas previously I had to use a toothbrush (which didnt really do a good job). I sure beats scrubbing by hand. By applying some pressure I was able to remove some built up soap scumb on the floor which previously I had not been able to scrub off by hand. The battery held up pretty well for over 15 minutes of work. (Just remember with all NiCad batteries to first charge them overnight).
Pros:
1. 6 different attachments (3 brushes, and 3 pads)
2. Cordless
3. 2 Speeds
Cons:
1. Alittle bulky
I didnt use the liquid reservoir. I prefer to just keep the cleaning fluids in their original bottles since I use different cleaning solution for different surfaces. I would have preferred it they designed it with better weight distribution concentrating it on the powerhead and get rid of the liquid reservoir instead.
Customer Review: if you hate scrubbing, you could do a LOT worse Summary: 4 Stars
after a few times of using this, i think you'll be pleased w/ the purchase. price might seem higher than other sort of similar products, but i've tried others and the motors on them were pretty weak and the accessories were slim pickins compared to this. this will get you over the hump to want to clean the dreaded bathroom -- you won't loathe it as much once you try this, and actually it's makes it kind of fun 'cause you see just how easy it is to clean w/ it. the only slight i have on the scrubber is i think that the ergonomics of it could be improved; the handle should be at an angle instead of perpendicular. reason being, people usually don't end up scrubbing perpendicular to their surface.
despite this small consideration, recommended product. i'll use this one 'til i drive it into the ground. i don't see that happening any time soon, but i'll hope that the handle ergonomics get improved in the meantime.
